WisRWA Tomorrow, Your Turn Friday Today
May 16, 2008

Well, I'm off to another conference this weekend. This time I'll be travelling to Green Bay, Wisconsin for the
WisRWA (Wisconsin Romance Writers of America)
Conference
Love is in the Cards. The guest speakers will be authors
Lori Foster (who will be having her own conference in a couple of weeks) and
Janice Maynard. I'll be blogging all weekend and will feature the popular
Drive by Videos. So be sure to stop by.
But now it's time for another addition of
Your Turn Friday. I'll let you know what I've been reading this week and then you can post your comments on what you've been reading lately.

First up is
Shari Anton's Magic in His Kiss. Nicole de Leon is the King's ward and has been living in a convent since her father's death. Now she's to be used as a pawn in an arranged marriage to strengthen the current regime. That is, until Rhodri ap Daffyd, her uncle's emissary, arrives to bring her home for the uncle's own devious reasons.
Nicole was a rebellious child entering the convent, but has pretty much accepted her lot in life until she tastes the freedom offered by her escape with Rhodri who she's known since childhood. But can Rhodri subdue her psychic gift that she has kept secret when it threatens her sanity?
Although this is the third book in the series of three sisters who are the descendants of King Arthur, it can easily stand on it's own. Shari's impecable historical research along with the the agony of Nicole's ability, lonliness of her isolation from her sisters, and joy at finding freedom will tug at your heartstrings. Add in a hero who makes his own magic with music, snappy dialog and a race against time and you have an enchanting, smart, and passionate story.

I needed a comfort read this week, so I fell back on an old favorite,
Amanda Quick's Late for the Wedding. Lavinia Lake and Tobias March have teamed up as private inquiry agents (investigators) in 19th century London, and with a few adventures under their belts decide to attend a country house party just to relax. When someone dies and Lavinia feels it was murder, they're asked to leave. This doesn't stop them, along with young relative/assistants Anthony and Emmeline, from trying to crack the case.
This is one series I wish would continue, I adore Lavinia and Tobias's relationship and the mystery part engages my mind so I loathe to put the book down until I can figure out "Who dun it?" (Yes, I know I've read it before, but I forget things) I have even listened this several times on audio which is outstanding.
Ok, your turn. What have you been reading this week?
Bottom Line: Today is National Pizza Party Day...and here I thought everyday was Pizza Party Day.
