The Ladies Book Blurbs
November 7, 2007
My darling WW ladies and friends have been busy this week trying to get to all the books piling up in my house. The goal is to get the word out on all the fantastic reads out there. So here is what they have to say.
Morning Light by Catherine Anderson
Reviewed by Lynda
I was very lucky to get an ARC copy of Morning Light by Catherine Anderson . This is the story of the oldest brother of Samantha Harrigan from Sun Kissed. Clint Harrigan is a rancher who has no intention of ever marrying until he meets Lori MacEwen, new to town and trying to hide the 'visions' that have caused her so much trouble in the past. Central Oregon is the setting for this book, just like the rest of the Kendrick/Coulter series, and for one fan (me) who was lucky enough to visit central OR a while ago, it is just breathtaking. Catherine brings so much into the story it will have your head spinning so run, don't walk to your book store in Janurary for this latest installment of the Kendrick/Coulter/Harrigan series...another job well done Catherine!

The Secret Passion of Simon Blackwell by Samantha James
Reviewed by Judy

Have you ever lost a loved one? How about three in one catastrophic event? See how Samantha James tells this tale so vividly revealing Simon's anguish and fear. Not only do you feel Simon's pain and tormented spirit, but the frustration and sorrow of Anne. A captivating story of English Gentry and the results of a chance encounter.

Shelter Mountain by Robyn Carr

After reading the first book in this series, Virgin River, I couldn't wait for the sequel. Settling in Virgin River after an abusive marriage, Paige meets Preacher who fills the void in both her life and her son's. This second book in the Virgin River trilogy leaves nothing but anticipation for the next installment. A fabulous story filled with love, action and suspense. Now I can't wait to get my hands on final book, Whispering Rock.
A Christmas Wedding Wager by Michelle Styles
Reviewed by Loretta
An intriguing and unusual romantic tale and I enjoyed every page of it. The lovely heroine and the handsome, rich hero involved themselves in a "thrust and parry" fashion towards each other throughout the book. Victorian social codes in England, described our heroine as "on the shelf" due to her advanced age of 25 and also designated her young man to be "low born" and as a result --not a gentleman. Those were the rules at that time!
The villian fit his role exceedingly well and I wanted to hiss him aloud. My only wish was that the story was longer or that there may eventually be a sequel. I believe I am being converted to enjoying romance novels. (Hooray!! Another convert!!)
Bottom Line: Well, at least we waited until after Halloween to talk about our first Christmas book.
