The Secret Mistress Arrangement by Kimberly Lang

Read by Denise

Matt Jacobs is a tycoon who has to take time off from from work to be the best man at his friend's wedding.  Ella Mackenzie is the maid of honor he falls for.  Will one week in bed making love convince strong willed Ella to accept the sortof indecent proposal she never thought that she would even consider.

This book held my attention and had me reading constantly (much to the dismay of my husband).  Quirky, romantic romp!

Alibi in High Heels by Gemma Halliday

Read by Heidi

Maddie Springer is invited by to show her shoe designs at Paris Fashion Week! It's a dream come true for her! But as soon as people start showing up dead with her shoes at the weapon of choice, Maddie becomes a suspect and calls her friends come to her aid before she becomes a victim herself.

What a fantastic book! Maddie is one of the most comical characters I have read about in a long time! I love that Maddie is contemporary and fun while wearing trendy clothes. Pure heaven for all us couture lovers out there!

The Death Dealer by Heather Graham

Read by joysann

PI Joe Connelly rescued Genevieve O'Brien from a psychopath, and now
they are cautiously becoming acquainted. With a nudge of inspiration
from the ghost of friend who died in that rescue, Joe is lead to find
a killer who is murdering Poe Society members before Genevieve's
mother, a member, is a victim. As he gets closer to solving the case,
he realizes Genevieve may again be the target of a murderer.

Harrison Investigations is Heather Graham's series of paranormal
romance thrillers.  Mysteries and murders, old and new, are faced with
the help or hindrance of ghosts. This sequel to The Dead Room was
romantic, suspenseful and exciting, and I appreciated watching Joe
recover from his loss in that previous story.

Spanish Magnate, Red-Hot Revenge by Lynn Raye Harris

Read by Denise

Rebecca Layton was running her deceased father's company, Layton International and had an affair with Alejandro de Ramirez.  Five years later they meet again and Alejandro is out for revenge.

I could understand the misunderstandings that abounded in this story because they seem to happen often in my everyday life (but, maybe not quite to this extent).  Delightful, sexy read in one sitting (you just try putting this down).

The Taking of Carly Bradford by Ramona Richards

Read by Heidi

Dee Kelley lost her family in an accident. Her life and faith have been shattered. And now she has found a pair of sandals that look like what Carly Bradford was wearing before she disappeared. Dee is determined to help the Bradfords find their daughter. But what is waiting in the woods could be deadly.

When a book starts with "Drop the Shoes!"; you know that you are in for a fun ride! This fast paced thriller of a story was wonderful for me. I had a hard time putting this book down.

Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland

Read by Kate

Louisiana Homicide Detective Kara Gillian is able to summon demons and this power will help her search for a serial killer called The Symbol Man. Time is running out for Kara because there is a countdown in regards to what the Symbol Man has planned. And when she summons Rhyzkahl, a Demonic lord who will not submit to any creature, Kara finds herself in more trouble than she has ever thought possible.

I can certainly say that Mark of the Demon is a great novel for those who enjoy an Urban Fantasy suspenseful crime solving mystery. Diana has written a strong heroine with Kara who is able to summon demons. She has a great way of balancing everything from how Kara handles her powers, to the way she investigates her latest case about a serial killer named the Symbol Man to the sexy demon Rhyzkahl who invades her dreams.

When Danger Calls by Terry Odell

Read by Michelle

Ryan Harper is an agent of blackthorne dealing with a conspiracy that seems to be unfolding around him.  Speculation puts Ryan in question of being the leak. He has two failed missions that leave him dealing with a knee injury and grieving through the unnecessary deaths of those he was trying to protect.  Ryan hides out in a local dive where he meets Frankie Castor, school teacher by day and cocktail waitress by night.  As Ryan's past is coming to hunt him down, he is becoming drawn to Frankie and a sexual heat so powerful it challenges them both.

If you like spy novels, conspiracies and erotic undertones (like I do) then this book is for you.

Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare

Read by Stacey

Lucy Waltham is in love.  Jeremy Trescott is Lucy’s most convenient practice dummy.  But events conspire to bring Lucy and Jeremy closer together for real, and force them both to discover the difference between love, lust and the truth of what marriage really is.

New. Fresh. Brilliant. Amazing.  Every once in a while I get to read a book that confounds me.  Goddess of the Hunt is one of them.  Just as I think the story of Lucy and Jeremy is going one way, I get to see Tessa Dare’s knowledge and understanding of the historical romance genre in action, as it immediately went in another, unexpected one.  I loved every minute of this book, and I cannot help but think it’s foreshadowing a brand new crop of voices in historical romance.   I cannot wait to see where Tessa’s well written stories take her well developed characters next.

Bottom Line:  Today is Canada Day, so to all our Canadian friends, "Happy Canada Day!"...or is it "Merry Canada Day!"?  I need to ask Alex Trebek.
