WisRWA: Love is in the Cards
May 17, 2008

WisRWA in Green BayMade the drive from South Milwaukee to Green Bay and my mom, my sister and I are still talking to each other.  Actually, it was a very pleasant ride.  The WisRWA (Wisconsin Romance Writers of America) conference is taking place at the Radisson Hotel attached to the Oneida Casino.  Yes, that is why my mom and sister were so anxious to join me on this trip.

Today was the day for registration, a general meeting and a chance for the authors to have a Q&A with editors and agents.  There was a book signing for literacy, a raffle for terrific gift baskets (including a summer basket complete with a tent and outdoor stuff), and a silent auction.  And what convention wouldn't be complete without a chocolate fountain.  Strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows, melon and rice krispie bars.  Yummm.  Oh, yeah, and a lot of talk about romance novels.

No, I didn't win any of the raffles and there were some great ones.  I was holding out terrific basket of goodies from Lisa Jackson including her books, but the basket itself was pretty amazing.

Afterward, quite a few headed to the bar with wild music and even wilder women (you know who you are).  I pooped out to write the blog, but the word is that it was an amazing time.  No pictures were taken to protect the innocent.

Bottom Line:  No more freebies, I will be taking bar pictures tomorrow night and naming names.  Consider yourself warned.

Barbara, you were one of the highlights of the conference for me. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Thanks for putting me in one of your "drive-by" videos!

Wow, looks like I missed a wonderful conference! Especially bummed about missing the chocolate fountain. Yummy! The household is back to normal, the guests have left, and my daughter's dance recital came off without a hitch. However, I would have much rather have been hobnobbing with authors and writers than little people with enough makeup on to scare one at Halloween... This was my first year of missing the WisRWA Conference since moving to WI, and I feel very...strange...for not having attended. Glad to hear everything went well. What's this I hear about a tent?

It was wonderful meeting you Barbara! I had such a good time at the conference--just one big party and all the talk about writing and good books! It is difficult to get back to the "real" world!
