The Wednesday Ladies Book Club
December 5, 2007
Thanks for all your well wishes yesterday. I'm feeling much better, although I still resemble Rudolph.
Hooray!! Loretta is back from vacation, but she still managed to polish off a couple of books and lose weight. She's my hero. Poor Joyce, hard working Ohio librarian has no vacation, but read three books this week. And a special welcome to Diva Deb, local librarian who discovered that she enjoyed romance. Who knew??
While trying to put their lives back on track, Sabrina Swann, seeking a peaceful refuge and Zach Tremayne, former Navy Seal, each relocate to a quiet town in the deep South. Unexpectedly they find themselves caught in an up and down love match. A vicious murderer works to draw them into his frightening web.
You will enjoy the delicious and tantalizing descriptions throughout this exciting novel and its unexpected ending.
The Chronicles of the Warlands by Elizabeth Vaughan
Reviewed by Joyce
This report isn’t about a single book, but about a whole trilogy of romantic fantasy. In Warprize a princess is awarded as conqueror’s plunder to savage barbarians, and she reconciles herself to her fate for the sake of her people. Nothing is ever as it seems, however, and in Warsworn she discovers in the savages a depth overlooked in the formal education given in her civilized homeland. More importantly is the depth she finds in the particular barbarian to whom she was awarded, and comes to understand why he is Warlord.
Elizabeth Vaughan has weaved a tapestry of a place and people that is vibrant with color and warmth. There is no need for more than the trilogy, but I’d go back there eagerly were she to explore this world further.

The Governess Wears Scarlet by

I don't normally like romance books, but I will have to admit I really, really enjoyed this one. Viscount Jason Steele hires Abigail West to be a governess for his two nephews not knowing that she is the lady dressed in widow scarves to conceal her identity while she searches a seedy part of town to locate her brother. On the other hand, Abigail does not know that her employer is the masked vigilante that also roams the streets and ends up roaming every part of Abigail.
This story has it all, romance, mystery and humor. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it will definitely not be the last. I loved it!!
Bottom Line: Don't forget to hang up your stockings for St. Nick tonight...mine is big enough to fit in 10 paperbacks...just in case.
