Aside from the usual "NOW he tells us" re Iraq, Katrina, et. al, how was it I could spot all this coming down 6 years ago but Hilary completely missed it?!

To: Kevin A. Lewis -- If Hillary or any other person had in 2002, come out and said, as you suggested, what Scott McClellan stated in his book all of this six years ago you know what would have happened? Just think Dixie Chicks. Or think about what happened to Joe Wilson when he did say it? Please, Kevin, get real. I noticed you weren't blogging this six years ago. It's just as easy for you today, based on Scott's revelations from the inside, to use it to trash Hillary, but .... why don't you put your name on the line, run for Senate, get elected twice, run for President and have some bloggers trash you for fun? Cheap shot from the cheap seat.

Scott should be ashamed. I think we should live in a country where we're publically loyal to our President. That doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he does or says....but lets present a united front, at least!!!

I think I recognize Kevin. He's a full-time Obama blogger, and yes, cheap shots at Hillary are his speciality. Be that as it may, I am interested in Scottie's book. I always sensed he was not entirely comfortable with the spin he had to put on events. This is a day late and a dollar short but at least it's an attempt to state for the record what actually happened during his tenure.

Actually, I usually pick on Ann Coulter during my infrequent political potshots, as PW is a online entity devoted to the book biz; 6 years ago I was probably ragging on the Chicken Soup craze or something...Charming to hear from you, though...(But I could still see Iraq coming a wide country mile before it became politically correct to say so)

"I think we should live in a country where we're publically [sic] loyal to our President." This is a hideous sentiment. We live in a country where we're supposed to have freedom of speech and freedom of thought. To say we have to pretend that we agree with the president's bad decisions is ludicrous and insulting. Besides, I tend to find the same people who want us to support Bush's needless war (thousands dead and maimed!) are the very same ones who wanted Bill Clinton's head on a platter when he wouldn't share his personal life with Ken Starr. Priorities. While I find it hard to believe Scott McClellan could live with himself all those years in Bush employ, I respect him for speaking his mind now. Better late than never.

I too agree that we should publically support our President. Free speech comes into play as we talk to our friends, but I think it's horrible that it has become so acceptable to bash the President publically. If we had a "Hitler" representing our country, that would be one thing, but we don't. I think it's even more of a shame that our political candidates are some of the ones doing most of the bashing. Don't they realize it only makes it harder for them down the road?

I think some people here have got patriotism mixed up with the Divine Right of Kings; by all means be civil unless extremely provoked, but when it becomes obvious that the Presidency has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the petroleum and pharmacuetical industry, it's time to speak up. As the saying goes, call a spade a spade, but when you trip over it in the dark it's a damn shovel...

I hope I will never be publically loyal to someone I disagree with, especially a (so-he-thinks) leader. It's that illusion that silences the right, strengthens the wrong, and kills the innocent.

The reason some of us refuse to public support Bush is because we do the way he's bastardized the Constitution makes him as dangerous as Hitler was.
