'Well, It didn't take long' may be overstating it. Nary a week after S&S had announced the imprint of Robert Barnett client Mary Matalin, Barnett has sold a book to the commentator-turned-editor. It's not Colin Powell or Karl Rove, but it's still pretty big: The house will publish Mary Cheney's memoir.
The house says that the veep daughter/debate football is in an excellent non-political political position to tell her story. Cheney "will write from her unique perspective as both a campaign senior staffer and as a daughter" it said in a statement, and "offer a behind-the-scenes look at the high intensity world of political campaigns" as well as "what it was like to become an issue in the 2004 presidential election." As it did with Hillary, the house scooped up world rights. The book will be released in the US May 2006. S&S and Pocket have also announced that Matalin's imprint will be named Threshold.
