During the making of Taschen’s 1000 Families, photographer Uwe Ommer took a four-year, 250,000 km journey, and the journal of his travels is Transit: Around the World in 1424 Days (July, $59.99 cloth).

The secrets of the Cyclades are uncovered by John Freely in The Cyclades: Discovering the Greek Islands of the Aegean (June, $19.95).
