Luanne Rice edges up with her latest family saga.

The Edge of Winter by Luanne Rice (Bantam, $24) is a “winsome” multigenerational family melodrama, sparked by a maimed owl and a sunken U-boat, said the PW review. 275,000 copies.

Innocent in Death by Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb (Penguin, $24.95) is Roberts’s 24th thriller written under the Robb pseudonym and shows why Lt. Eve Dallas is known as “New York City’s top murder cop” in the year 2050.

The Fifth Vial by Michael Palmer (St. Martin’s, $24.95) tackles the illegal organ transplant trade in this entertaining tale of medical suspense. 225,000 first printing.

Finn by Jon Clinch (Random, $23.95) is a “darkly luminous debut” in which the namesake of the title is Huck Finn’s father, “Pap.”
