Stephen Roxburgh has been named publisher of Boyds Mills Press, the trade publishing division of Highlights for Children, effective immediately. Roxburgh, who founded Front Street Books in 1994, became associate publisher of Boyds Mills when that company acquired his, in 2004. Roxburgh will be based in Honesdale, Pa., while the Front Street staff will remain in Asheville, N.C.
Roxburgh called the appointment “the most exciting opportunity in children’s book publishing in the United States today, and the culmination of a dream for me. It secures the future of Front Street, the imprint I founded a decade ago when it became apparent that publicly held conglomerates were taking children’s publishing in a direction that I was unwilling to go.”
He succeeds Kent Brown, who founded Boyds Mills in 1990 with Clay Winters and Larry Rosler. Brown will expand his duties with the Highlights Foundation. Winters, president of Boyds Mills, will continue in his role, as will Rosler.
