Carpenter to Nelson

By Cindy Crosby, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 5/9/2007

Thomas Nelson has named industry veteran Larry Carpenter the new v-p of marketing for its Trade Book I division, replacing Greg Stielstra, who left March 30 to start his own consulting business

"Larry has an exceptional resume which combines brand management and marketing experience, executive leadership skills, a talent for strategic planning and creative direction, and over 20 years of publishing experience working with authors, publishers and retailers," said David Moberg, senior v-p/group publisher for the division. "He is exactly the right person to lead the marketing team as we embark on a multiyear strategy for significant growth and author brand development."

Carpenter was most recently senior v-p/chief marketing officer and general manager of FaithWorks Distributors, which was acquired in 2005 by STL Inc. Before launching FaithWorks in 2000, Carpenter was president and CEO for Ingram Christian Resources and then Spring Arbor Distributors. Carpenter will oversee all marketing for the Spiritual Growth and Practical Living publishing units, as well as for the Max Lucado brand. He also will work with authors Billy Graham, Beth Moore, Henry Cloud, John Townsend, George Foreman and Hank Hanegraaff, among others. Carpenter will report directly to Moberg and oversee a staff of seven.
