Graf, Hoard Join Skyhorse

by Calvin Reid, PW Daily -- Publishers Weekly, 5/24/2007

In an unusual transition, two publishing veterans are moving to a new independent publishing venture in the wake of the acquisition and closing of their former houses. Herman Graf, cofounder of Carroll & Graf, will join Skyhorse Publishing as an acquiring editor and consultant. Trish Hoard, cofounder and associate publisher of Shoemaker & Hoard, is joining Skyhorse as managing editor.

Carroll & Graf, founded by Graf and Kent Carroll in 1982, is being closed by Perseus, its parent company. Shoemaker & Hoard was acquired by Winton, Shoemaker & Co., a new publishing venture by Charlie Winton and Jack Shoemaker, in February 2007. Skyhorse Publishing was founded in September 2006 by Tony Lyons, formerly of Lyons Press and Globe Pequot.
