Newly crowned British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is the latest author Weinstein Books has added to its list. The house has acquired U.S. rights to Brown’s forthcoming Courage: Eight Portraits, which Bloomsbury U.K. is publishing in England this month. Acquired by Weinstein Books CEO and president Rob Weisbach, the U.S. edition is planned for a May 2008 release. Royalties from the book, which the publisher describes as a collection of profiles of "men and women whose lives define the meaning of courage," will be donated to the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory, a charity which focuses on pregnancy difficulties that the Browns established to commemorate their daughter, Jennifer, who died as an infant.
