Lulu.com Launches Lulu Poetry, Introduces Contest
By Lynn Andriani -- Publishers Weekly,04/14/2009
Self-publishing site Lulu has launched a Poetry site, www.Poetry.com, where users can connect with other poets and digitally publish their own verse at no cost. The site resembles Lulu.com in that it is targeted toward writers who want to connect with their peers and have access to resources to receive reviews and feedback on their work. Unlike Lulu.com, Poetry.com features a “reward and recognition component” through poetry contests with daily ($25), monthly ($250) and yearly ($5,000) prizes awarded. The Lulu poetry community will select the winners.
At Poetry.com (Lulu bought the domain from a previous owner and overhauled it), poets can create, meet other poets and share their work. Widgets and other resources offer glossaries and techniques, as well as a reference list of words that rhyme, and every day the Poetry.com staff selects a “Poem of the Day.” A spokesperson said Lulu will add new features over the next few months.

My name is Daphne Jane Rogers Molson. I was a membered International Society Poet from 1999 to 2009 and then told I could not get a membership, to transfer all my poetry at Poetry.com and in Poets. com to Lulu.com. I do not know where the poems are. The library in our city said they cannot find them nor where they would be stored. Please can you send my email address where all the poems were displaced to. I understood the poems were displaced and stored for free. I have never received any message they were displaced. Please return them to me.I was needing them to complete a book.Daphne Jane Rogers Molson, ILP, ISP Poet Laureate

I have posted poems on poetry.com since 1999. I have been
published in several of their books and still have letters in regard to
proof reading before publication. I do not understand why I cannot see
them on this new LULU web site. Where did all my poems go??? I do
not remember my old e-mail I used for poetry.com but when I search
for myself in the search engine commercial publications are all that
pop up. i thought as a guest on the website I could view unpublished
poets like myself but I cannot locate any of those either. I dont want to
read famous works I want to see peer written and submitted works and
this website is empty. I am livid because I have e-mailed them several
times with no response and like I said before, even without my old
login info I should still be able to locate mine and other poems I am
familiar with seeing from the alphabetical listing on the old
poetry.com
If ANYONE can tell me how to see my poems on this website I will be
eternally grateful because of now I feel as if these poems have been
stolen from all of us who have used the website for many years.

I had over 85 poems on poetry.com.
I go to the site and I cannot access my poems...
I email them....no reply....
I cannot find a phone number.
All my poems are gone.
If I had the money, I would have an attorney.

The company had no chance with John, eric and Nick as the bosses. They didn't know what they were doing. The dang place was in trouble the day John Herman bought it and they ran it in to the ground. Now everyone that worked there is out of a job. If you poets or vendors are out of money you should get it back from the old owner. His name and address is below. Sue him if you have to. He didn't know how to treat anyone if you ask me. I think the new owner has good intentions, unlike the old one.

I am really, really sad that the Poetry in Motion contest is gone. It was one of my favorite things on the internet. I didn't care about winning, but the process was so stimulating and fun. I'll miss it.
