All roads led to Harry Potter at Scholastic's booth, but Harry--and ARCs of the highly anticipated July 21 novel--were nowhere to be seen. Scholastic did hand out 6000 Harry Potter bags, to long lines of eager fans.

A Saturday panel announced the creation of a National Ambassador for Young People's Literature post, under the Library of Congress. On hand to talk about it: (from l.) At the Evening with Children's Booksellers, author Perry Moore (Hero) chatted with Hyperion editor Alessandra Balzer.

Sherman Alexie, whose first novel for teens (The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian) comes out this September from Little, Brown, posed at the children's dinner with his wife, Diane Tomhave and his editor, Jennifer Hunt.

Also at the dinner, Clementine author Sara Pennypacker shared a laugh with educator Joan Kindig.

A little Hollywood glamour came to the Javits Center, when Julianne Moore signed copies of Freckleface Strawberry, her new picture book for Bloomsbury.

The Harry Potter Knight Bus rolled into town for one day, kicking off its national tour; it will visit 40 libraries in 10 cities, to help fans count down till July 21.
