On March 10, Edward W. Knappman died from an infection that resisted antibiotics. Knappman, former president of New England Publishing Associates, was 67.
Knappman was a veteran literary agent and NEPA, which he ran with his wife Elizabeth Forst-Knappman until selling it in 2010 to Roger Williams, specialized in nonfiction. Before joining the publishing business, Knappman, in his twenties, was deeply involved in the civil rights and ant-war movements. He graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in 1965 and earned his M.S. from Columbia School of Journalism in 1966. He worked for a period as v-p of Facts on File and also wrote a number of books, including Great American Trials (Gale Research, 1994; 2002). He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Amanda Lee Frost Knappman. Contributions in his memory can be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
