British fantasy author Diana Wynne Jones died on Saturday. She was 76. Jones, who has been writing fantasy novels for over 35 years, has won a number of awards, including the British Fantasy Society’s Karl Edward Wagner Award and, in 2007, the Life Achievement Award from the World Fantasy Organization. Her book Howl's Moving Castle was memorably adapted to the screen by director Hayao Miyazaki, and the film was nominated for an Academy Award. Her next book, Earwig and the Witch, will be published by Greenwillow Books in February 2012.
