George Lovitt, a publishing and advertising veteran of nearly 40 years, died February 6 at the age of 90. Lovitt began his publishing career in the late 1940s as a member of John Wiley & Sons' advertising and sales team. Later in his career, he joined the book advertising agency Franklin Spier and eventually became president of the company, where he handled ad campaigns and publicity for a variety of publishers including Harper & Row, Doubleday, New American Library, Simon & Schuster and many other book publishers.
