Born in Mexico in 1965, Sofia Segovia has worked as an image consultant on political campaigns and as a ghostwriter for politicians and socialites. She has also penned several plays. She published her first novel, Noche de huracán (Night of Hurricane), in 2010, and her most recent novel, El murmullo de las abejas (The Murmur of the Bees), was published globally in April. Segovia is already being hailed as the next Isabel Allende. Set against the backdrop of the Mexican Revolution, El murmullo de las abejas is filled with magical realism and tells the extraordinary story of a mysterious child who changes a family’s history. Segovia does a masterful job of describing the characters and the beautiful scenery at the estate of the Morales family. This is Segovia’s second novel.
