Smashwords Self-Published Bestseller List, May 2016

Hanging tough atop our list of bestselling titles on the Smashwords platform for the month of May is Diary of an Oxygen Thief, a novel described as Fight Club meets Mad Men written by an anonymous author.

As we reported last month, that mysterious author has sold both screen and North American rights to the book, and just last week PW took a look at the savvy marketing campaign that made the novel a hit.

Also making waves on this month’s list is Cora Reilly, who has three titles from her Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles series in the top five: Bound by Hatred at #2, Bound by Temptation at #3, and the Bound By Honor Boxed Set at #5. Reilly describes the series as a “steamy contemporary romance series for those who like diehard bad boys and sexy alpha males.”

May’s list also features a lone nonfiction title: The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM) by Hal Elrod. This author knows a little something about transformations himself: when he was 20, Elrod was hit by a drunk driver and woke up six days later only to learn that he would probably never walk again. Defying the odds, Elrod recovered and went on to become a bestselling author and inspirational speaker.
