2011 Eisner Award Nominations
The annual Eisner Awards have announced their 2011 nominations for excellence in comics. PWCW's own Heidi MacDonald has been nominated for an Eisner for her comics blog

This year's nominations can be found here. The Eisners, named after comics pioneer Will Eisner, are awarded annually at San Diego Comic-Con, and are widely held to be the most prestigious comics award there is.
Comics Announcements from Kapow! Comic Con
London's first annual Kapow! Comic Con, ambitiously positioned to grow into the UK's answer to San Diego Comic-Con, took place last weekend. Organized by comics creator Mark Millar, it featured a wide variety of Britain-based comics creators including Peter Milligan and Paul Cornell, with a few imports in the mix. Andy Diggle and Jock, creators of The Losers, have announced that they will reteam for a new project entitled Snapshot, to be published in Judge Dredd Magazine. Mark Millar announced two new upcoming series, a Hit Girl spin-off comic and Supercrooks, a comic about supervillains.
Comixology Introduces Comics 4 Kids App
Digital comics giant Comixology has announcedComics 4 Kids, a special comics app available through iTunes, that will contain comics appropriate for children from a wide variety of publishers. Publishers participating include Archie, Image, NBM, Red 5 and many more. More details are available here.

Nick Cage's $1 Million Comic Found
A copy of
Action Comics #1, the first appearance of Superman in print, stolen from actor and comics fan Nicholas Cage has been found. Stolen over a decade ago, the comic was found in a storage unit in Simi Valley, CA. Similar comics have sold for around $1 million. More details

New MoCCA Courses
The Museum of Comics and Cartoon Art is hosting a new slate of classes this spring. This season's offerings are How to Write Comics and Graphic Novels with Danny Fingeroth and Advanced Visual Storytelling with Peter Kuper as well as one night masterclasses with J.M. DeMatteis and Larry Hama. More details are available

George Takei Wants to be Spider-Man
Star Trek actor George Takei made the case for being cast as Spider-Man on Broadway in this humorous video.
Bill Roundy's New Weekly Bar Comic Strip
Comics creator Bill Roundy's comic Bar Scrawl will now be featured on a weekly basis in The Brooklyn Paper. Spotlighting a new Brooklyn bar every week, Roundy launched the comic last September. Older installments of the series can be found at BarScrawl.net.
