Hitting bookshelves next week is an abundant spread of fall treats, including the latest opus from a Caldecott winner, the launch of two new series, and some long-awaited YA novels from bestselling authors.

One by Sarah Crossan. Greenwillow, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-211875-2. This story about 16-year-old conjoined twins struggling with friendships among a troubled family earned a starred review from PW.

Mirrored by Alex Finn. HarperTeen, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-213451-6. The latest in the author’s Kendra Chronicles series is a retelling of the Snow White fairy tale.

The Appearance of Annie van Sinderen by Katherine Howe. Putnam, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-399-16778-2. The author of Conversion returns with a novel featuring two alternating narratives: 19-year-old Wes, a modern-day filmmaker, and Annie van Sinderen, a girl trying to uncover the truth of her father’s shady business dealings two centuries prior. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Voyagers Book 1: Project Alpha by D.J. McHale. Random, $12.99; ISBN 978-0-385-38658-6. Eight 12-year-olds from around the world compete for a spot on a deep space mission in this launch of a new series, each volume authored by a different author, in the vein of The 39 Clues.

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy. HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-232718-5. Self-described “fat girl” Willowdean enters a Texas beauty pageant to confront her own self-acceptance. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Fairy Tales for Little Folks by Will Moses. Viking, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-451-47283-0. In his latest picture book, the folk artist reimagines five classic fairy tales.

The Bamboo Sword by Margi Preus. Abrams/Amulet, $16.95; ISBN 978-1-4197-0807-7. Preus’s latest is an historical novel told from two perspectives, one from a boy on Commodore Perry’s ship on his expedition to Japan, the other, a boy who is a samurai’s servant.

Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales. FSG, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-374-37665-9. The latest from the author of This Song Will Save Your Life tells the story of 17-year-old Arden, who, fed up with being generous-to-a-fault, leaves her small town to meet a blogger she admires in New York City.

The Marvels by Brian Selznick. Scholastic Press, $32.99; ISBN 978-0-545-44868-0. Caledcott Medalist Selznick’s latest opus tells a multigenerational story in sequential art and text. The book received a boxed review from PW.

Star Darlings #1: Sage and the Journey to Wishworld by Shana Muldoon Zappa and Ahmet Zappa. Disney Press, $6.99; ISBN 978-1-4231-6643 A new series from the husband and wife team introduces 12 characters based on the zodiac who attend a school to learn how to grant wishes.
