Before I Leave by Jessixa Bagley. Roaring Brook/Porter, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-62672-040-4. This book about two friends, one of which must move away, received a starred review from PW.

The Big Adventure of a Little Line by Serge Bloch. Thames & Hudson, $19.95; ISBN 978-0-500-65058-5. French cartoonist Bloch writes an understated memoir in the form of an allegory, illuminating it with spare pen-and-ink drawings. The book earned a starred review from PW.

That’s My Hat! by Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud. Thames & Hudson, $24.95; ISBN 978-0-500-65057-8. After a monkey snags the hat when it blows into the zoo, a boy follows him from park to bakery, department store to library, locations that come to life in stacks of rectangular pop-ups that call to mind a 3-D of Tetris. The book received a starred review from PW.

The Magical Fantastical Fridge by Harlan Coben, illus. by Leah Tinari. Dial, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-525-42803-9. The bestselling adult mystery author makes his picture book debut alongside debut illustrator Tinari, in this story that follows a boy trapped in the art on his refrigerator.

The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. Greenwillow, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-238075-3. Debut author Heilig sets this swashbuckling time-travel adventure primarily in 19th-century Hawaii.

Pilfer Academy: A School So Bad It’s Criminal by Lauren Magaziner. Dial, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-8037-3919-2. This middle grade take on the boarding school novel is set at the secret Pilfer Academy of Filching Arts, which enrolls students by kidnapping them and whisking them off to a castle – a stolen one, naturally – full of ill-gotten artifacts.

The Vault of Dreamers: The Rule of Mirrors by Caragh O’Brien. Roaring Brook, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-59643-940-5. The second volume in this trilogy follows teen Rosie after her consciousness has been split in two.

Big Nate Blasts Off by Lincoln Peirce. HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray, $13.99; ISBN 978-0-06-211111-1. In the eighth installment of the series, Nate deals with a crush and unwanted attention after a schoolyard tussle.

Riders by Veronica Rossi. Tor Teen, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-7653-8254-2. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride forth to save the world from demons in this paranormal adventure, first in a series from Rossi, author of the Under the Never Sky series.

Go, Little Green Truck! by Roni Schotter, illus. by Julia Kuo. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-374-30070-8. This story takes on a familiar picture book theme: a faithful farm vehicle is replaced by a younger, stronger worker, and introduces ideas like buying local, being environmentally conscious, and finding creative ways to recycle what one already has.

Echo Echo: Reverso Poems About Greek Myths by Marilyn Singer, illus. by José Masse. Dial, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-8037-3992-5. Figures from Greek mythology feature in Singer and Masse’s third collection of “reverso” poems, which can be read both forward and backward. The book earned a starred review from PW.

The Night Before the New Pet by Natasha Wing and Amy Wummer. Grosset & Dunlap, $4.99 paper; ISBN 978-0-448-48903-2. This picture book follows a family’s preparations before adopting a puppy.
