The Dove Chronicles: Dove Exiled by Karen Bao. Viking, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-451-46902-1. In this second volume in this YA sci-fi series, the protagonist Phaet Theta must choose between going back to her home on the moon or staying on the drowned Earth of her ancestors.

The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock. Random/Lamb, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-553-49778-6. Set in Fairbanks, Alaska, in the 1970s, this debut YA novel follows four teens whose stories gradually converge.

Unbecoming by Jenny Downham. Scholastic/Fickling, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-545-90717-0. Downham examines the family battles and internal conflicts of three generations of women in this YA novel about a household in crisis. PW gave the book a starred review.

Alan’s Big, Scary Teeth by Jarvis. Candlewick, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-7636-8120-3. In this picture book, Alan the Alligator gets his comeuppance when the animals he terrified find out his teeth are false. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Ida, Always by Caron Levis, illus. by Charles Santoso. S&S/Atheneum, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-2640-4. In this book inspired by two polar bears that lived in New York City’s Central Park Zoo several years ago, Ida and Gus spend their days playing, splashing, and listening to the sounds of the city, but everything changes when Ida becomes terminally ill in this picture book that echoes the stages of grief, which earned a starred review from PW.

The Key to Extraordinary by Natalie Lloyd. Scholastic Press, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-545-55274-5. In this middle grade novel, a girl grieves for her mother while exploring supernatural mysteries.

Just My Luck by Cammie McGovern. HarperCollins, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-06-233065-9. In her first middle-grade novel, McGovern brings readers fully into a middle schooler’s troubled thoughts in this depiction of a family facing difficult situations.

Tales of the Fallen Beasts by Brandon Mull. Scholastic, $12.99; ISBN 978-0-545-90129-1. A special edition book continues the Spirit Animals series written by Mull and other authors.

Same But Different: Teen Life on the Autism Express by Holly Robinson Peete, Ryan Elizabeth Peete, and RJ Peete. Scholastic Press, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-545-09468-9. The Peetes revisit the topic of autism spectrum disorder, this time in a novel featuring fictionalized versions of twin teenagers Ryan Elizabeth and RJ Peete, coauthors with their mother.

The Secret Language of Sisters by Luanne Rice. Scholastic/Point, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-545-83955-6. Alternating between the perspectives of two sisters irrevocably changed in an accident, bestselling adult author Rice navigates the delicate territory of sisterhood and accountability in her first book for teens.

Titans by Victoria Scott. Scholastic Press, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-545-80601-5. NASCAR meets National Velvet in this tale of a 17-year-old girl who risks everything to save her family from financial disaster. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Firstlife by Gena Showalter. Harlequin Teen, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-373-21157-9. Showalter, author of the White Rabbit Chronicles, addresses religious extremism, conformity, and war in this first book in her YA dystopian Everlife series.

The Bitter Side of Sweet by Tara Sullivan. Putnam, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-399-17307-3. Sullivan shines a harsh light on the horrors of modern-day slavery through 15-year-old Amadou’s struggles to care for his eight-year-old brother, Seydou, while farmers force them to harvest cacao on an Ivory Coast plantation. I Survived #13: I Survived the Hindenburg Disaster, 1937 by Lauren Tarshis. Scholastic, $4.99; ISBN 978-0-545-65850-8. In the latest edition of the bestselling series, an 11-year-old survivor of the disaster tells his story.

Thanks for the Trouble by Tommy Wallach. Simon & Schuster, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-1880-5. Wallach’s latest YA novel follows Parker and Zelda through an eventful day in which they contemplate whether living a full life is better than living a long one. The book earned a starred review from PW.

The Thickety: Well of Witches by J.A. White, illus. by Andrea Offermann. HarperCollins/Tegen $16.99; ISBN 978-0-06-225732-1. The third novel in this middle grade fantasy series find protagonists Kara and Taff in an effort to find a witch who can release their father from her enchantment on him.

How Do Dinosaurs Stay Friends? by Jane Yolen, illus. by Mark Teague. Scholastic/Blue Sky $16.99; ISBN 978-0-545-82934-2. The latest in Yolen and Teague’s dinosaur picture book series shows dinosaurs getting into tiffs and learning how to make up.
