The New York Times Book Review has revealed the 10 titles on its 64th annual list of Best Illustrated Children’s Books. The books will be featured both in the November 13 edition of the NYTBR and at a reception at the New York Public Library on November 15. Beginning in 2017, the Times and the NYPL will jointly present the Best Illustrated Children’s Books.

The 2016 Best Illustrated selections are:

The Cat from Hunger Mountain by Ed Young (Philomel)

The Dead Bird by Margaret Wise Brown, illus. by Christian Robinson (Harper)

The White Cat and the Monk by Jo Ellen Bogart, illus. by Sydney Smith (Groundwood)

The Polar Bear by Jenni Desmond (Enchanted Lion)

The Princess and the Warrior by Duncan Tonatiuh (Abrams)

The Tree in the Courtyard by Jeff Gottesfeld, illus. by Peter McCarty (Knopf)
