Here we round up new and forthcoming children’s titles, including a prose-poem paean to love, a storybook about a shopping trip gone awry, and a middle grade novel about gerbil rivalry.

Love by Matt de la Peña, illus. by Loren Long. Putnam, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-5247-4091-7. People often talk to children about love; through de la Peña’s prose poem, they can see and feel what it’s like. The book earned a starred review from PW.

My Pillow Keeps Moving by Laura Gehl, illus. by Christopher Weyant. Viking, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-425-28824-5. A guy walks into a pillow store, and from there, Gehl and Weyant’s story becomes increasingly silly and delightful.

Hammy and Gerbee: Mummies at the Museum by Wong Herbert Yee. Holt/Ottaviano, $12.99; ISBN 978-1-62779-462-6. In this first book in the Hammy and Gerbee series, schoolmates Hammy the hamster and Gerbee the gerbil pursue a gleeful rivalry with Anna and Hanna, twin girl mice in their elementary school class.
