Complete with a soup recipe and a personal note from Charles (Like Vanessa), this picture book about a girl and her grandmother in the kitchen honors family and Haitian history. The book earned a starred review from PW.

With a Little Help from My Friends by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, illus. by Henry Cole. Little Simon, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-534429-83-3. In this picture book adaptation of the popular Beatles song, two shrinking violets find friendship through a shared tune.
