My Rainbow by DeShanna Neal and Trinity Neal, illus. by Art Twink. Kokila, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-9848-1460-9. In their #OwnVoices picture book debut, mother-daughter duo and transgender rights advocates DeShanna and Trinity Neal center a Black transgender girl looking for hair that suits her gender expression. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

Sullivan, Who Is Always Too Loud by Micol Ostow, illus. by Brian Biggs. Roaring Brook, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-250-30772-9. This picture book should be a boon for often-misunderstood exuberant children while modeling compassionate behavior for the adults who love them.

You Were Never Here by Kathleen Peacock. HarperTeen, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-300251-7. Mary Catherine Montgomery—a self-deprecating New Yorker with a taste for vintage and indie music—narrates this crafty, well-paced thriller centered on a missing friend.

The Blue Table by Chris Raschka. Greenwillow, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-293776-6. Spare text and images center the titular cerulean table, around which a small family—and later, a second—gathers to share meals and gratitude. The picture book earned a starred review from PW.

This informative and engaging nonfiction picture book, created with font and dialogue balloons that give it an accessible, comics-like style, is sure to captivate young dinosaur fans with the facts and history behind dinosaurs and their feathery modern relatives: birds.

Foreshadow: Stories to Celebrate the Magic of Reading and Writing YA edited by Nova Ren Suma and Emily X.R. Pan. Algonquin, $16.95; ISBN 978-1-64375-079-8. This volume is part showcase of culturally diverse new voices from online magazine Foreshadow, and part beginners’ writing textbook.
