Don’t sound the death knell for print just yet. The Monthly StatShot just released by the Association of American Publishers showed solid growth for children’s hardcover and paperback sales in February 2012 over the same period last year. Factors include the continued popularity of the Hunger Games trilogy, but also the run-up to the March 2 release of the film The Lorax, which fueled tremendous sales for multiple Dr. Seuss titles. February 2012 hardcover sales were up 71.8% over February 2011, and paperback sales were up $62.5%. E-books continued their upward trajectory over last year, with February sales up 177.8% over the same period in 2011.
