In yesterday's PW Daily we mentioned the formation of a new literary development studio, by bestselling author Veronica Rossi (Under the Never Sky) and editor/ghostwriter, Lorin Oberweger. The firm, Wildcard Storymakers, is based in California and plans to bring middle grade, YA and new adult titles to market. The founders are also working with Rossi's husband, Michael, who has a background in business development. The goal, they said, is to "re-imagine book packaging" by luring more prominent authors with better contract terms.

The company plans to do nine to 12 projects annually, and already has a relationship with Adams Literary and Paul Kohner Agency. (Agents Tracey Adams and Josh Adams, at Adams Literary, will represent Wildcard's projects, while Paul Kohner's Stephen Moore will work as the firm's co-agents, representing projects for television and film.)

Wildcard's debut project is a new adult novel called Boomerang that Tessa Woodward at Harper/William Morrow just acquired in a three-book, six-figure, world English rights deal.
