Liesa Abrams has been promoted to v-p and editorial director of Pulse and associate editorial director of Aladdin. She was formerly associate editorial director of Aladdin and Pulse. Michael Strother has been promoted to associate editor of Simon Pulse; he was previously assistant editor. Editorial director Patrick Price is leaving the company.

Beverly Burns has been hired as events coordinator at Once Upon a Time Bookstore, in Montrose, Calif. She was previously events coordinator at Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop, which closed in January 2014.

Jennifer Romanello has been named v-p, director of publicity for Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing. Most recently Romanello has headed her own public relations firm, and before that was v-p and executive director of publicity at Hachette's Grand Central division. She joins the company on August 20.

Scholastic has several promotions and two new hires. Gavin Brown has been promoted to digital product director, multiplatform publishing; he was previously associate director. Rachele Harmuth has been promoted to director of sales at Klutz; she was previously national accounts manager, Scholastic Trade. Jacqueline Bernacki has been promoted to national account manager, ebooks; she was previously manager, sales administration. Rachel Griffiths has been promoted to editorial director, multiplatform publishing, in addition to her editorial responsibilities at Scholastic Press; she was previously executive editor. Cassandra Pelham has been promoted to senior editor at Graphix and Scholastic Press; she was previously editor. Erin Black has been promoted to associate editor at Scholastic Press; she was previously assistant editor. Katie Rakowski has been promoted to advertising and digital marketing coordinator; she was previously advertising and digital marketing assistant. Lizzy Yoder has joined the company as senior designer, and Jessica Meltzer has joined the company as designer; previously they were both freelancers for Scholastic.

Lauren Scobell has joined Macmillan Children's Publishing Group as director of Swoon Reads, the crowdsourced teen romance imprint. Previously she was a consumer marketing director at Nickelodeon.

Chrissy Pulles has been promoted to associate editor at Simon Spotlight; she was previously assistant editor.
