This week, Chris Robertson and Heidi Schultz stick their necks out; Barry Lyga regales summer campers; Kate Milford celebrates her book release in a familiar setting; and Melissa Landers, Lorie Langdon, and Carey Corp bond on their joint book tour.

Tall Tales

Last weekend illustrator Chris Robertson and author Heidi Schulz entertained readers at Once Upon a Time bookstore in Montrose, Calif. The two shared their book Giraffes Ruin Everything (Bloomsbury) and Robertson provided a live drawing demonstration.

A Summer of Reading

Barry Lyga, author of The Secret Sea (Feiwel and Friends), took part in the Summer Camp Reading Program at Northshire Books in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on August 17. Campers spent the day taking part in activities relating to Lyga’s book and each received a copy at the end of the day. The reading program sponsors children’s author appearances throughout the summer months.

As Fate Would Have It

McNally Jackson hosted a launch event for The Left-Handed Fate by Kate Milford on August 23. Milford was right in her element speaking to the group of about 60 friends and fans – as she also happens to be a bookseller at the store.

Book Besties

Authors Melissa Landers (Starlight), Lorie Langdon, and Carey Corp (the Doon series) kicked off their Book Besties Tour on August 11 in Cincinnati. They also made stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Charlotte, covering 2100 miles in five days.
