This week, a book launch goes to the unicorns; Richelle Mead winds up her tour in Austin; author Abby Sher serenades her book baby; and Lint Boy makes his Brooklyn debut.

A Sparkling Book Launch

Amy Young was recently on tour for her picture book A New Friend for Sparkle, her second book about a unicorn that also happens to be a goat. She kicked off the tour with an event at Bookbug in Kalamazoo, Mich., on June 25.

Journey’s End

Richelle Mead finished her tour for Midnight Jewel, with a final stop at BookPeople in Austin, Tex., on July 9. At each of her tour stops, Mead auctioned off a Squishable stuffed animal. Here, the winning fan accepts her plush prize fox.

It’s Not the End of the World

Author Abby Sher (l.) celebrated the release of All the Ways the World Can End, her semi-autobiographical novel, at Greenlight Bookstore in Brooklyn on July 12. During the event, Sher was interviewed by Ophira Eisenberg, host of NPR’s Ask Me Another. Also joining Sher was her friend and fellow author V.C. Chickering, who joined her in singing the original song that Sher wrote to go along with her book.

Local Lint Boy Makes Good

Author-illustrator Aileen Leijten came to the powerHouse Arena in Brooklyn on July 8 for the release of her graphic novel Lint Boy (Clarion), about a boy who lives in a clothes dryer. Here, Leitjten signs her book for fans.
