The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art has revealed the recipients of its 2018 Carle Honors.

Paul O. Zelinsky, the Caldecott Medal-winning illustrator, was named the Artist Honoree for his “exceptional artistry and poignant storytelling.”

Lynn Caponera and Dona Ann McAdam have been chosen as the Angel Honorees for their work at the Sendak Fellowship, which supports emerging authors and illustrators through creative residencies.

Elena Pasoli was chosen as the Bridge Honoree in recognition of her work with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, which has connected publishers from around the world for more than 50 years.

Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, children’s literature scholar and author, who described the power of books as “windows and mirrors” for young readers, has been selected as Mentor.

The 13th annual Carle Honors will be presented in New York City on Thursday, September 27, hosted by author and publisher Andrea Davis Pinkney. The Carle Honors Art Auction will also take place at that time.
