Watertown, Mass.-based children's book publisher Charlesbridge Publishing has acquired middle-grade book publisher Move Books, launched in 2011 by Eileen Robinson with the aim of increasing literacy rates among boys. Robinson has joined Charlesbridge and will use the titles she sold to Charlesbridge—five existing books and about 15 forthcoming titles—to form a new middle-grade imprint called Charlesbridge Moves.

“Charlesbridge Moves will excite middle-grade and chapter-book readers with adventure, mystery, and fun, giving them the confidence to read more,” Robinson said in a statement. “Whether told through traditional prose, verse, or graphic novel elements, our books grow and sustain an appetite for reading, especially with boys and reluctant readers.”

Robinson is joining Charlesbridge as both editorial director of Charlesbridge Moves and as executive editor of Charlesbridge. As editorial director of Charlesbridge Moves she’ll helm the direction of the imprint. As executive editor of Charlesbridge, she’ll be working on picture books and board books. Charlesbridge Moves will launch sometime in 2024.

Among the existing titles acquired by Charlesbridge are the Lost Tribes series by Christine Taylor-Butler, as well as Surviving Bear Island and Follow the River by Paul Greci.

“Eileen Robinson’s vision and energy are a perfect match for the work we’ve been doing at Charlesbridge to elevate diverse creators and content and reach readers of all backgrounds. Eileen’s expertise and market savvy will give a strong direction and focus to our middle-grade program,” said Yolanda Scott, v-p and publisher of Charlesbridge.

Until April 1, Moves backlist will be available through IPG at which time distribution will shift to Charlesbridge's distributor, Penguin Random House Distribution Services.
