This month, authors make a school visit highlighting Black historical figures; publishers celebrate their picture book creators; and an author takes her construction site picture book on tour.


Black Boy Dreams

Co-authors of Black Boy, Black Boy (Sourcebooks Explore) Ali Kamanda (l.) and Jorge Redmond (r.), made an appearance at Martin Luther King Elementary in Washington, D.C., for a school visit on November 30. Black Boy, Black Boy, illustrated by Ken Daley, highlights important figures in Black history to inspire a new generation of Black boys to achieve their dreams.


Stars Are in the House

On December 1, Scholastic brought together picture book authors and illustrators to honor their works with an event called A Night of Stars: Scholastic Picture Book Celebration. Trucking Along on Tour

Celebrating the release of her newest picture book, Farming Strong All Year Long, illustrated by AG Ford, author Sherri Duskey Rinker headed out on tour, meeting students at St. Louis bookstore The Novel Neighbor for a reading on November 14. The book follows six trucks working to keep their farm up and running through the different trials each season brings.
