Former Rodale Books v-p Cindy Ratzlaff has started a new e-book and video publishing company, Supreme Social Media. The start-up, which Ratzlaff bills as “an online publishing and training company,” publishes e-books and downloadable videos. Its first release is a four book, 34-video series called FUNdamentals of Social Media, which includes lessons for beginners on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and SEO. It retails for $247 at the company's Web site.
Ratzlaff left Rodale in 2007 after 11 years with the company, most recently as v-p of brand marketing, where she oversaw campaigns for the South Beach Diet franchise. Of her new venture, she said, “We wanted to offer out of the box, easy to use solutions for the more than 50 million new users who’ve joined Facebook in the past six months. We’d like to demystify Social Media and help everyone use this powerful new platform to promote and market themselves and their books or projects.”
Supreme Social Media will publish four new proprietary video and e-book programs in 2009. Next year, its online store will begin selling social media e-books and programs from other publishers and authors. It will also provide in-house social networking training and social media consulting for authors, speakers and corporations.
Ratzlaff met her partners—Francine Allaire, Kathryn Rose, Karmen Reed and Lisa McKenzie—at the International Social Media Association, where all five were becoming certified in social media strategy
