Rumors began flying on Wednesday that Barnes & Noble plans to introduce a new e-reading device on May 24. The source of the speculations was an SEC filing in which, to comply with FD fair disclosure rules, B&N included a line indicated that it would announce an unspecified e-reader device on May 24. The Wall Street Journal predicted that the new device would be a tablet-like e-reader running the Android Honeycomb tablet OS, however, others are saying it’s more likely that B&N will update its original E-Ink Nook e-reader in order to compete with Amazon’s Kindle 3, which features a better E-Ink screen, among other enhancements.
