StarWalk Kids Media, the e-book publishing startup co-founded by children’s science author Seymour Simon and Liz Nealon, the former creative director of Sesame Street, have announced that the new StarWalk Kids eBook platform is now live with 148 e-books available in the streaming catalog.
Authors in the catalog include Simon, David Adler, Doug Cushman, Diane deGroat, Johanna Hurwitz, Kathleen Krull, Kathryn Lasky, Stan Mack, Emily Arnold McCully, Doreen Rappaport, Hudson Talbott, and Laura Vaccaro Seeger, among others. The collection is mostly nonfiction, and covers pre-K through eighth grade. Each title has been narrated in preparation for digital streaming via the StarWalk Reader, and all titles are accompanied by a "Teaching Links" document.
Schools and school libraries, public libraries, teacher education and library science programs are all candidates to subscribe to the streaming StarWalk Kids collection. The catalog is expected to grow to 400 titles by the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
