AcademicPub, an automated coursepack service, is launching a line of “Intro Books,” low cost textbooks designed for introductory seminars for basic college courses. The Intro Books line will launch with 12 coursepack textbooks compiled from the AcademicPub content database and from open educational resources.
Compiled by AcademicPub researchers, Intro Books will be available as digital downloads and POD softcover editions. Among the initial 12 titles are College Success Skills, Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts; Introduction to Psychology; English 101: Introduction to College Writing; and Introduction to Physical Geography;
Using the AcademicPub site, schools, libraries and faculty can create customized coursepack anthologies with copyright permission at affordable prices from a database of more than 8 million content units from more than 250 publishers.
"It is well known that faculty members are frustrated with the high-cost, generic, and often outdated content available in traditional, hardcover textbooks,” said Caroline Vanderlip, CEO, SharedBook Inc., AcademicPub’s parent company. “We now offer a quick and easy way to curate content in the introductory subject area."
