Barnes & Noble will sell its Nook e-book reader in 2,500 Walmart stores and at Walmart.com as early as October 24, in advance of the holiday shopping season, B&N said today. Walmart will prominently feature the Nook as a “premier e-book reader” in stores' consumer electronics areas, and many stores will feature a Nook-branded e-reading area where shoppers can see and touch a demonstration device. Walmart will sell both the Nook 3G and the Nook Wi-Fi.

B&N’s v-p of digital business development Chris Peifer said, “Sales of NOOK devices continue to exceed our expectations, and we are thrilled to be able to partner with Walmart, one of the world’s greatest retailers, to expand the distribution of our award-winning NOOK eBook Reader.”
