Samhain, the mostly digital publisher of romance in all its permutations, is going to close the My Bookstore & More e-book e-commerce site toward the end of the year, according to the romance book blog Dear Author. Samhain purchased My Bookstore and is going to use its shopping cart software to sell exclusively Samhain titles.
This may come as a blow to avid romance readers, who have been able to purchase digital editions of books from many romance publishers through the My Bookstore site. The Dear Author post notes, however, that customer's online bookshelf of previous purchases through My Bookstore will remain available even after Samhain rebrands the site, though only Samhain titles will be available as new purchases.The news is also evidence that the e-book market going to grow without a few setbacks along the way.
