Lawrence Teacher, who cofounded Running Press in 1972, died at his home in Philadelphia on March 25 at the age of 72. His brother, and fellow cofounder, Buz Teacher wrote in a statement that Larry loved to "invent" books such as The Family Car Songbook, and was "very proud" to have published the likes of George Carlin, Saturday Night Live, and The Teacher Brother’s Almanac.

Buz Teacher called his brother "instrumental in the beginnings of the trade paperback revolution," and a "leader in some of the very first 'kits' to be sold in bookstores beginning with The Herb Grower’s Guide which came with seeds, the Zen Garden Kit, and The Brain Pack."
