If you’re interested in learning more about recent trends in publishing from a spiritual perspective, you might want to head over to Wicker Park Press’s booth, 4488, 1–1:30 p.m., today. Radio personality and intuitive life coach Jillian Maas Backman, the author of Beyond the Pews: Breaking with Tradition and Letting Go of Religious Lockdown, will do a live broadcast from there of her talk radio show, Change Already, Your Future, Your Choice. Her guest will be Eric Miller, publisher of Wicker Park Press, a Chicago company that has specialized for the past decade in publishing titles of regional interest.

Even before talking about recent trends in publishing with Miller, Maas Backman expresses optimism in the future of the industry, based on her own “practical” spirituality. “The book industry is going strong,” she says. “People still like to read books.”

Maas Backman intends to emphasize to publishers and booksellers during her broadcast the three life lessons she explores in Beyond the Pews, which she describes as an “interactive autobiography,” a blend of personal stories and the lessons about life and intuition that she’s learned along the way.

Copies of Beyond the Pews will be handed out to booksellers at the booth, as will copies of Nonna’s Book of Mysteries by Mary Osborne, a Lake Street Press backlist title.
