Andrews McMeel Publishing has signed a cookbook deal with Bon Appétit magazine. The house will release The Bon Appétit Desserts Cookbook in fall 2010. Bon Appétit has previously published books with Wiley; the most recent one, The Bon Appétit Fast Easy Fresh Cookbook, won a 2008 IACP award. The new book will include more than 850 recipes culled from the magazine’s extensive archives in addition to some never-before-published recipes.

Literary agent David Black, who brokered the deal, said that after two Bon Appétit books with Wiley, “It was time for a change. Wiley did a phenomenal job with the two books. Bon Appétit was very grateful for that.” But he said publishing with Andrews McMeel is giving the magazine “an opportunity to be one of the cornerstones of a publishing program. That’s very exciting for Bon Appétit.”

AMP’s burgeoning cookbook program launched in 2007 under the leadership of executive v-p and publisher Kirsty Melville. Its book The Art and Soul of Baking by Sur La Table and Cindy Mushet won an IACP award this year and was also nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award.
