It Books has acquired The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1, which grew out of actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt's hitRECord. Gordon-Levitt dubbed hitRECord an "open collaborative production company," and the effort, online at hitRECord.org, crowdsources content. The company has over 45,000 members, all of whom can submit pieces in a variety of forms ranging from drawings to videos to text. The book will feature stories that hitRECord members have put on the site.

The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: Volume 1 is scheduled for December and follows a $20 edition called The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories: 2010, that is available directly from hitRECord.org. The new book will again feature very short stories, along with art. Mauro DiPreta at It negotiated the deal for the book through Creative Artists Agency and hitRECords will be splitting profits on the title evenly with its contributors. Gordon-Levitt has dedicated a section of the site to the story collection, calling for submissions.
