Before I tell you what’s in store for November, I want to say a heartfelt thank you for making Publishers Weekly’s all-new Children’s Starred Reviews Annual – 2013 a success. Without you it wouldn’t have happened, and it’s a phenomenal issue, including the “50 Best Children’s Books” and more than 350 starred reviews of children’s books. It’ll be in your mailbox and online come November 12th. Wide newsstand distribution, a POD version, online ordering for single copies and distribution at ALA Midwinter and the Winter Institute 9 in January all serve to get your message and brand out there, into the hands of influential book buyers.

There’s been quite a bit of buzz about this issue already—from children’s bookstores as well as individuals who feel it would be a good “holiday gift guide” for parents and grandparents. If anyone asks you about how to get this issue, here is the link to purchase an individual copy.

A quick reminder of an important forthcoming issue you’ll want to be a part of: The December 2nd issue (reservations deadline November 18) features PW’s Publishing Person of the Year and the ALA Midwinter Preview. This is a very popular issue with bonus distribution at ALA Midwinter in Philadelphia. I urge you to contact your rep to be included.

The PW Publishing Industry Salary Survey 2013—the full report with 75 pages of full-color graphs and charts, tables and medians, plus a revised executive summary by PW co-editorial director Jim Milliot—is out now and available for purchase for $100. You may order directly (all major credit cards accepted) for instant download of the report at www.publishersweekly.com/salary2013.

As you read this, I am on a plane to the United Arab Emirates for the Sharjah World Book Fair, an exciting event I've been looking forward to.

And if you plan to be in Santa Fe for either PubWest or the Hillerman Writers Conference, November 7-9, 2013, do contact us and let us know. We’d love to see you and get together. Sales rep Tory Abel will be at PubWest saying hello to advertisers.

Publishers Weekly co-editorial director Jim Milliot is sitting on a PubWest panel called “How to Get Effective Book Reviews” on Saturday morning, November 7th, at La Fonda.

Rachel Deahl, PW senior news editor and “Deals” column writer will be on a panel at the Hillerman Writers Conference at the Hilton Santa Fe on the Plaza. The Saturday morning panel is called “The Future of Publishing.” Rachel is also the author of a new PW e-single forthcoming, Publishing 101: The Publishers Weekly Introduction to Publishing and Self-Publishing (Publishers Weekly, 2013), to be published later this month.

Last but not least, PW’s Best Books of the Year issue is out today. I bet you’ve already read it. Is one of your books on the list? Publishers Weekly is pleased to offer your house a special book-cover sticker that says: “A Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year 2013.” Tout the honor! Sell even more books!

For forthcoming editorial deadlines, scroll down, or contact me or your sales rep to be included.

Happy Thanksgiving!
