Alibris has found a way to get into the self-publishing boom, launching Author Stores. Through the program, self-published authors create Author Stores for their books and their titles will be available through the Alibris marketplace and its service partners that include Barnes & Noble.com, Borders and Chapters Indigo. The monthly fee is $19.95 for up to 500 ISBNs. All Author Stores are customizable.
Brian Elliott, Alibris president and CEO, said it makes more sense than ever for authors and publishers to sell directly to Alibris’ s customer base. “Over a third of our marketplace sales are new books—most of those solidly in the ‘long tail’ and through the new Author Stores sales channel and its dynamic features, authors can promote and sell more books.”
