Unit sales of print books rose 2% in the week ended Sept. 13, 2015, compared to the similar week last year, at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. Sales in the adult nonfiction category rose 5%, helped by the debut of The Complete Cook’s Country TV Show Cookbook (Season 8), which sold more than 22,000 copies in its first week on sale, landing in the #2 spot on the adult nonfiction list. Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up stayed in the top spot, selling more than 25,000 copes. Lee Child’s newest Jack Reacher novel, Make Me, debuted at #1 in adult fiction, selling more than 53,000 hardcover copies and helping to lift unit sales in the category up 2% over the week ended Sept. 14, 2014. Unit sales in the juvenile nonfiction category increased 7%. There wasn’t much movement in the category, with Johanna Basford’s Secret Garden staying in first place with more than 19,500 copies sold. Two newcomers to the top 10 are The Pokémon Deluxe Essential Handbook and The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Mad Libs, which each sold just under 4,000 copies, putting them in sixth and seventh place, respectively, on the juvenile nonfiction list. The juvenile fiction category was the only segment where units declined in the week, with sales down 4%. The Day the Crayons Came Home by Drew Daywalt remained #1, selling more than 16,000 copies.
