Unit sales of print books rose 7% in the week ended Nov. 15, 2015, compared to the similar week last year, at outlets that report to Nielsen BookScan. The two nonfiction categories led the way, with both the juvenile and adult segments posting 12% gains. The game guide Fallout 4: Vault Dweller’s Survival Guide by David Hodgson and Nick von Esmarch was #1 in the adult nonfiction segment, selling almost 44,000 copies in its first week on sale. Juvenile nonfiction sales benefited from a strong performance by the week’s top four bestsellers, including #1 Enchanted Forest and #3 Secret Garden, Johanna Basford’s adult coloring books, which sold 20,000 and 18,000 copies, respectively, in the week. A new coloring book helped to increase sales 4% in the juvenile fiction category. The Harry Potter Coloring Book sold more than 70,000 copies in its first week, landing in second place on the juvenile fiction bestseller list. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School by Jeff Kinney stayed in the top spot, selling more than 201,000 copies in its second week. Marissa Meyer’s Winter debuted in third place on the juvenile fiction list, selling more than 32,000 copies. Unit sales in adult fiction were just about flat in the week. John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer stayed in the #1 spot on the adult fiction bestseller list, with more than 46,000 copies sold, while Mitch Albom’s The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto was the top-selling debut in the week, selling just under 20,000 copies, putting it at #6 on the adult fiction bestseller list.
